Sand Whiting are abundant
in coastal waters of
eastern Australia from
Qld. to eastern Vic.,
including eastern Tas.
A close relative the
Yellow-finned Whiting
is found from S.A.
to W.A. They have a
preference for sand
bottoms in and around
bays, lakes, harbors,
rivers and ocean beaches.
