Where
Sand Whiting are abundant in coastal waters of eastern Australia from Qld. to eastern Vic., including eastern Tas. A close relative the Yellow-finned Whiting is found from S.A. to W.A. They have a preference for sand bottoms in and around bays, lakes, harbors, rivers and ocean beaches.

Bait
Yabbies (nippers), Beach worm, Blood worm, Crab, Mussel, Pippi, Squid, Squirt Worm, Prawn (shelled)

Tackle
Link: 2 - 3kg main line with a 0.5m trace.
Hook: No.2 - 6 Longshank or No.1 - 4 Baitholder.
Rig: Light gear with light running sinker. Short length of red plastic snooded on to eye hook.

Hints
Congregate in deep channels and holes during low tide and found in the shallows at high tide at night. Fish feed on rising tide with best results at flood tide.
